Women taking charge of their lives

Three friends

New Learning Center was founded by Sunaina R. Jain, PhD, a clinical psychologist who has spent over thirty years working with women and children who cope with personal challenges within an environment shaped by poverty, instability, and ongoing trauma. Dr. Jain has developed a model for delivering mental health services to women and children that restores dignity, strengthens families, and promotes self-advocacy.

The Center's mission is to provide woman-centered counseling services and training within a caring community to women whose lives have been shaped by poverty, abuse, and trauma.

New Learning Center, Inc. is a private nonprofit agency that is certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and funded in part by the Metro Regional Board for Mental Health Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases.

NLC offers a unique resource for women and girls, a place of empowerment, a place for:

At the same time, the agency works to educate the larger community about the real needs of women and girls, especially those who have been traumatized, through individual advocacy, mentoring, public awareness building, and training for professionals.
